Christmas is a time for singing and celebration and we do it in style at Sydney Philharmonia Choirs. This year we will sing Handel’s Messiah and we invite members of the community to join our Christmas choir. You will be joined on stage by members of our auditioned choirs, a professional orchestra and world renowned soloists, led by conductor Brett Weymark.
Please read through the following information carefully before registering for Christmas Choir.
ALLOCATION EXHAUSTED FOR SOPRANOS AND ALTOS: Please note that there are currently no remaining registration spaces available for Sopranos or Altos in the Christmas Choir. To join the waiting list please email [email protected]. Please be advised there is no guarantee that further places will open up. Do not register as another voice part, as you will not be able to swap.
SCORE ORDERS HAVE NOW CLOSED. All registrations after 16th September are responsible for providing their own score.

Please ensure you can attend rehearsals before registering. All rehearsals and performances from 5 December onwards are mandatory for Christmas Choir. Leave from ONE rehearsal prior to this is permitted. Singers in the Christmas Choir may apply for additional leave by emailing the Choirs Manager at [email protected]. Please note, this leave may not be granted.
SCORE
This year Christmas Choir will perform off the book, from memory.
We will use the Oxford University Press version, edited by Clifford Bartlett. Scores can be ordered as part of your registration.
The deadline for score orders is Monday 16th September. Registrations after this date will be BYO score only.
Scores will be ready for distribution towards the end of July.
TEACHING TRACKS
These can be downloaded once you have registered, or you can request a CD to be sent as part of your registration. You will receive a link once you have completed your registration.
VOICE PARTS
Please note the representation of each voice range below.
There are a limited number of spots in each voice part, and some parts sell out quickly, so register early to avoid missing out. We are particularly looking for more tenors and basses- please let your friends and family know!
PERFORMANCE TICKETS
Tickets to the performance are currently on sale via both the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs website and Sydney Opera House website.
Once you have registered, you will be sent your discount code which can be used when purchasing tickets to the performance. Please note that these concerts are likely to sell out so book early!
