Registered for ChorusOz® 2020?
ChorusOz® was created by Brett Weymark to allow those who couldn’t commit to a regular choir the opportunity to sing once a year on a world-class stage. It has since become a fixture in the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Philharmonia Choirs’ calendar, and in 2021 we are taking it to the majestic Sydney Town Hall on the October long weekend.
ChorusOz® is an opportunity for singers of all levels to immerse themselves in a major choral work over a full weekend, culminating in a performance of the music. 2021 will be the 15th year of ChorusOz® and we will welcome people from across Australia to enjoy the experience of singing Verdi’s Requiem at the Sydney Town Hall led by Artistic and Music Director Brett Weymark. Participants will share the experience with 700 other passionate singers, world-class soloists and the Sydney Philharmonia Orchestra. This is a life-changing experience and one you will never forget.
This year ChorusOz® will perform Giuseppe Verdi’s fiery and dramatic Messa da Requiem (Requiem Mass). Verdi is a household name, renowned for his many operas – La Traviata, Aida, Nabucco and Rigoletto and many more – as well as being an Italian national hero. First performed in Milan in 1874 to commemorate the death of his friend the writer Alessandro Manzoni , he poured his masterful sense of drama and emotional expressiveness into his Requiem – at times achingly beautiful, at time heaven-shakingly terrifying, but always awe-inspiring. And now you can sing this masterpiece in Sydney’s majestic Town Hall alongside world-class soloists and the Sydney Philharmonia Orchestra.
ChorusOz® workshops will take place on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 October 2021.
The concert will take place on Sunday 3 October, 5pm.

Vocal Range Guide
Please note the representation of the vocal ranges below. For Verdi’s Requiem there is little difference between 1st parts and 2nd parts. Those on first parts should be confident sustaining long notes in tune near the top of the range for a number of bars.
